Terms of Use

Cinder (“the app”) is a free, early-access (“alpha”) music-sketching application published by isoverge (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. License to use

The app is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use under the PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 license included with it. You may not sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app, and you may not reverse-engineer or redistribute it except as that license allows.

2. Alpha software — no warranty

The app is pre-release and provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. It may contain bugs, lose data, or change at any time. To the maximum extent permitted by law, isoverge is not liable for any damages, including lost work, arising from your use of the app. Keep backups of anything you care about.

3. Your content is your responsibility

You are solely responsible for the audio and other content you load, import, analyze, separate, transcribe, or export with the app. Only process material you own or have the right to use. Features that import from a URL or separate stems are tools; using them on copyrighted material you do not have rights to may violate the rights of others and the terms of the source platform (for example, YouTube). You agree to comply with all applicable laws and third-party terms. isoverge does not host, review, or claim any rights in your content.

4. The AI assistant and your API key

The optional AI assistant uses your own OpenAI API key, which you enter in the app and which is stored only on your device. When you use the assistant, a compact text description of your project (not your audio files) is sent to OpenAI to generate suggestions. Your use of the OpenAI API is also governed by OpenAI’s own terms. You are responsible for any costs your key incurs. See the Privacy notice.

5. No affiliation

Cinder and isoverge are independent and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ableton, Splice, OpenAI, YouTube, or any other company. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe interoperability or for comparison.

6. Third-party software

The app includes and uses third-party components under their own licenses; the notices are included with the download.

7. Changes

We may update the app and these terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
